The American Veterans Tribute will hold their annual event and firework show on Lake Gaston in Virginia on July 7, 2018, to honor our veterans. Activities and entertainment include a BBQ dinner, live music, parachute jumpers, and an incredible display of fireworks.

Our 2018 honoree is Joseph Wadle Jr.

Born in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1943, Joe grew up in Tuscaloosa and on Long Island while his Father was flying for Eastern Airlines. He attended Marion Military Institute during High School and Freshman year of College and then the University of Alabama before joining the Marine Corps in June 1962. He married Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ immediately after boot camp. Returning to college on the Naval Enlisted Scientific Education Program in 1964, he received engineering degrees and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and served in Viet Nam (1st MAW Security & Communication units and 1st Force Reconnaissance Company) and at Headquarters Marine Corps before leaving active duty and joining Exxon in August 1972. Joe served another 26 years in the Marine Corps Reserve retiring as a Colonel in June 1998 serving mostly with Infantry Battalions including, as Commanding Officer 3/24 and later in staff positions at Marine Forces Reserve level.
